Come on by the store

Hey folks. We missed the snow this time. Thank goodness.
We have several things to get out to everyone. If you were at Embroidery Club you will remember me telling you that we were going to collect blankets for the Kidney Foundation. I have gotten several in but could use more. Remember to get those into the store by at least the second Saturday in January. I have the box right at the front to drop the blankets in.
Our second request is from Ronda that does a lot of charity work for the animal rescue group in Knoxville. Today she was in the store and said that the William-Young Animal Shelter in Knoxville had put out a plea for used towel to use to give the puppies a bath. Now is a good time to clean out the linen closet and donate some of those worn towels for the puppies at the shelter. I know I have several. Just bring in clean towels and I will start a box for the cause. Rhonda will pick up and deliver to the shelter.
Don't forget we still have machines that need to find a good home before the first of the year. Come on in and lets trade. I can always use good used machines.
If we don't see you before we want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ,stay safe and warm and if traveling for the holidays be safe and hurry back to see us. From all at MidSouth's Best Sewing.

Wonderful Party!!

Today we had such a wonderful time with all our friends. The Christmas ideals were wonderful and if you were like me you saw several you would like to do. I especially liked the lace that Pat brought. Now for the food. That was a awsum taste test. We should do that more than 1 time a year. There were a few things left so we have some snacks for next week. Hope everyone enjoyed. Don't forget Tuesday Dec. 15 ia "Sew & Show" and our friend Rebecca Brent will present the program. As usual it will be exciting. If you are to busy to stop by before Christmas may I take this time to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Until the next time keep warm and keep those machine running and turning out those great ideals.

The Sewing Elfs

Well all the people didn't go to the mall today. We had about 12 or 14 people that dropped in during the day and done the quilting project with Rebecca and some done the charity sewing with Maggie. We are happy to announce that we have finished the 92 kits that Maggie had cut and they will be delivered to Childrens Hospital next week. We started today like a "Sweat Shop" some put the pillowcase together and some done the sewing and some done the ironing. It is amazing how fast you can do one when you just sew and somone else is doing the other work. You can tell the first time we finished only 29 and today we finished the rest of the 92 kits. Thanks to all that helped to complete the project.

What a wonderful time

What a great time we have had this weekend doing some much needed cleaning and arranging the store. Karen brought us some more new fabric so Kent had to get out the saw and build some new shelves. We got new tables, the decorations are going up and you will all be suprised how pretty and glittery the store is. Thanks Lisa for the great job. Martha and I both dropped by the store on Sunday afternoon and brought our 4 legged children Rachel and Buster and did they have good time playing. It was like long lost friends and they had never seen one another. So now you have a headsup on what has taken place this weekend so come on by and take a look. I'm sure we will still be putting the finishing touches on Monday. See everyone soon. Carolyn

Block of Month

Block of Month #3 is ready to be picked up. If you are behind and need help contact the store and we will help. And remember to bring in your finished block. Martha will picture and put on the web. Look at the web site under the photo section for the ones that have been brought into the store. Also if you need to download a picture of the completed quilt it is on the web page and it says to click to download a picture. Would make a great screen saver. Until next time. Carolyn

Rebecca's teaching

Attention everyone!!! Rebecca will be in the store on Friday the next day after Thanksgiving and do a class on this beautiful quilt. It is easy to do and the really neat thing about it is everyone does not have to start at the same time. On that day we are also having a "Charity Sew In" to make pillow cases for Chrildrens Hospital and Hospice and Serenity Shelter. So with the 2 class going you can do Rebecca's class and then make a few pillow cases. You just need to bring your sewing machine and be ready to sew. What great fun spending the day with your sewing friends. On Rebecca's class you will need 1 1/2 yards of striped fabric you will not need your border fabric until you are finished. The cost of the class is 10.00 for the teacher fee and $8.00 for the pattern. You do need to call and let us know if you are coming. No need to get your fabric ahead of time you can get that at the store when you get there. And guess what Karen went and got more fabric today and she got lots of strips just for this class.
Now if you are coming for the "Charity Sew In" you just bring your machine and you will pay $1.00 for each fabric kit that you get to make. We have had several to call and say that they wanted to make the pillow cases but just could not come on that day. So we are getting the fabric kits and you can pay your fee and we will keep a list of who got how many and our deadline to get them back in the store will be the following week after the sew in. Remember these are made with Christmas fabric and we need to get them made and delivered.

Did you catch what I wrote earlier? Karen went and purchased more fabric today. We will have it in the store next week. Be prepared.

One more thing. Are you wishing you had one of the new "Quattro" machines. We have a deal on the machine that will be hard to beat. The special runs until Nov 30. Tell your Santa that you have been good and you want to help him out in making the right decision in that Christmas gift and bring him on down to see the machine or just print off the web page the "Black Friday" sale that started today and give him that much need hint of what you want for Christmas. If you have the Quattro and are wanting the new "BES" software it is on the sale flyer and we just got a shipment in today. Another macine we were out of that arrived today is the PR 650 and tell Santa it has 36 months same as cash financing available until Nov 30. Until next time take care see ya all soon.

Quattro Club

Well today was the first meeting this month for the Quattro Club meeting. Karen had the cutiest project for them. Everyone finished and was quite proud of what they made plus the features that had learned on there machine. Never take for granted that a little project will turn into several different things learned on your machine. See why we want everyone to come to class.

Fred's Great Brother Announcement!

You can be sure when Fred asks "can you post this on the blog" it's going to be good! And it is! Take a look at this...

And don't forget to check out the website!
http://www.mbsewing.com/

Circular Attachment Testimonial

"Dear Brother,
I am WOWED by the new Circular Attachment Bundle. I am a sewing instructor at MidSouth's Best Sewing, plus an avid quilter. Quilters are always looking for different techniques. I immediately found endless possibilities using this tool. Every quilter should have one and I am going to demonstrate this to everyone in our store. For instance you can take a piece of fabric and make a 'wholecloth' quilt using this attachment. When making home decor projects like pillows, placements and creative funky projects it makes me smile every time I use it. The Oven Mitt project posted on the Brother web site is a great little project to start with. We will also use it as a club project soon. If you haven't tried this yet you are missing out on a lot of fun. We have scheduled store demonstrations. Check out our times on our web site in the classes on www.mbsewing.com. Tip: Always use stabilizer with this attachment.
Yours Truly,
Martha Carroll, Education Coordinator"

Arrival of new fabric

Well girls lets just see who reads the blog. Today Karen delivered new bolts of fabric. So much fabric that the last wall in the fabric room will be covered with shelves over the weekend. So you might guess we have a lot of fabric. As Martha and I was sorting out on the tables it was so hard to pick a favorite. But one thing for sure I will get the christmas stocking panels done really fast they are beautifullllll. Another fabric that Karen got was several bolts of stripes. You know what great bias bindings that makes.
Matt also got the new cutting table together today. Remember thats the one Karen told you about that is hydralic and can adjust to any height. I have gotten so many new items in it is hard to find places to hang or display. Stop by and see. Everything from new designs to notions and now fabriccccccc.

Urgent News

Hello girls, Just received some very exciting news today and we had to act fast and arrange for this to take place. If you remember Karen talking about Julie Hall the designer she meet at Houston Quilt show and what awsum designs she had and that we were going to order some in and have in the store. Well we have done better than that she is coming thru Knoxville on Monday Oct 26, and will be stopping in at the store to do a trunk show. We already had a embroidery project of the month class scheduled and Julie will start just as soon as we get finished around the 12:30 hour. If you are taking the class you will be sewing one of her designs out. If you want to take a peek at her designs go to her site at juliehalldesigns.com and get started making your list. And she also said she had plenty and there was no way of running out. I know I have my eyes on one of the candlewicking designs. Hope to see you all there this coming Monday. No need to call and register . See ya

Sunday, October 18, 2009

Are you coming to Sew and Show on Tuesday, Oct. 20? Well there is also something very important going on that day. We are celebrating Karen's birthday. Just wanted everyone coming to know what a important day it will be. See ya there starting at 11:00 and then at 1:00 we will be doing the "Block of the month" demo. Don't forget to bring your projects for show and tell and your beautiful smile.

Friday, October 16, 2009

Oh the weather outside is getting chilly. And guess what only 69 days until Christmas. Now how many projects do you have to do per week to get all on my list done?
And don't forget there are some "scarry" deals in the store right now. Does a $500.00 rebate sound good. Stop in the store and I will show you how you can get that check in the mail.
Hello, everyone, I've been invited to become a blogger at Just Sew-Sew! I'll be at the store tomorrow - Saturday the 17th - for the second mystery quilt workshop. I'd love to see you there! A few spots are still available, and if you don't have the fabric already you can find some great possibilities in the store's fabric room.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

The "Mystery Stripper" has been revealed. The girls in the class can't believe what they are about to have come to life before there eyes. Much less that they have completed. Today we have had 4 girls that has never quilted before and 1 of those is almost completely finished. Want to see this beautiful art work? Come Saturday and take the class or you will have to wait until after that to see the "Mystery".

Bye houston.... We have lots of new toys and playthings...
It is almost time. Just about 2 more hours and the "Mystery Stripper" class will start. Got your interest? Well there are still a few more spots left for the same class on Saturday, Oct 17th starting at 9:00 AM. Call the store if you want in. Sorry but I can't post a picture until after Saturday's class. Why? Because then the mystery would be out and the Saturday class would know what the quilt looks like. And as always Rebecca will have a great class.

Monday, October 12, 2009

Have you seen the freestanding flower pictured here on the blog. They are from Dalco and we will be having hands on classes on Friday Nov. 13. Classes are filling up fast. Be sure and call the store to get in on this wonderful class. Mark the date for Saturday, November 14 @ 11:00 am it is going to be one exciting time at embroidery club. I have seen the designs and I already have my list of what I want.
The rain didn't keep everyone away. Today Cathie was in the store teaching the "Potato Chip" quilt method. They done a table runner and everyone that attended went home with beautiful table runners. Several were in Christmas prints and Teresa selected on of the new retro fabrics that just arrived. Teresa is new to embroidery and after she finished sewing I helped her do the machine quilting with a couple of the designs that were built in her "Quattro" that way she got 2 lessons in one. How to mark and hoop plus how to do beginners quilting. Watch for pictures soon. The great ideal about this class was it gave everyone a wonderful place to showcase a beautiful embroidery design in with there quilting project. All that is left to say is well done to all in the class. You done a really nice job. Keep up the work. Don't forget to bring for show and tell next time.
Karen... can't wait to hear about all the goodies you have in store for us!!
Girls, just a heads up Karen has been calling all day with new product information. Get ready to sew sew sew.
